Welcome Message from the organizing committee

Dear Colleague

It is a great pleasure to welcome you in our marvelous city. Porto hosts not only one of the most important Portuguese Anesthesiology Congress, but also an opportunity to meet intangible pleasures and discoveries in this multifaceted capital of the North of Portugal. Historical, gastronomical, seaside activities and landscape points of unspeakable interest are present altogether in our region. Several alternatives, at a very short distance from congress point, are available for scheduling and programming.

Urban and countryside lifestyle tastes and activities are gently, safely and rather cheaply offered to our visiting friends.
Porto wine, as a known ambassador of our region, leads a multiplicity of choices either in Porto downtown or at a short distance from city center. Boat trips by the Douro River are available in a pallet of choices, most surely organized in several models to please visitors, in a world heritage region, granted by UNESCO.

Our congress, O Norte da Anestesia, is organized every year, in a joint effort of the three major hospital centers in the region, namely: Centro Hospitalar do Porto, Centro Hospitalar de São João and Centro Hospitalar de Gaia/Espinho. Altogether, these 3 hospitals sum up to 2500 inpatient beds and its Anaesthesiology Departments gather more than 200 senior anaesthesiologists, 60 anaesthesia residents and anesthetize more about 100000 per year.

Our vision, on this congress, is to have the best selection of lectures and speakers, and parallel an excellent faculty with a warm welcome of our guests, and a joyful environment on the event.

Traditionally and according to the main pillars of our specialty, perioperative care, emergency medicine, intensive care and pain medicine are amongst the main frame subjects under our scope; nevertheless, the Organizing Committee frequently incorporates other specially emergency or relevant chapters.
